I emailed our friend George in Arkansas to ask if he was supporting Mike Huckabee for president since he was a fellow Arkansasyer. I was surprised to get a response that said No, George is supporting Dr. Ron Paul, quite literally, and provided some proof. Ha!

I believe this was Monday, the day Paul raised 4.2 million in 24 hours, breaking most if not all the records. We're currently sitting at 7.7 million.

Most of you will say so what, rich people give money and that means nothing of a candidate's support. Campaign finance law sets the maximum contribution per person at $2300, which means if Bill Gates decides to support a candidate, he can only give the person $2300. The cool thing about Ron Paul's campaign bonanza on Monday was that it was from over 37,000 donors, which means the average donation was just over 100 bucks per person. Wow.

Best Wedding Video

Our friends, the Bests, got married back in April, and this is some video of that. We were only filming because we had a camera handy -- little did we know that all of the Best's professional wedding photos would be lost in a hard drive crash. When I ran across the DVD of video footage the other day, I knew I just had to make some sort of montage. So here it is. I hope Dale and Lindsay like it.

Our good friend Seth Hutchins is writing some insightful stuff over on his new blog. His thoughtful posts make me want to pick up my half-read copy of The Screwtape Letters and start again. I think Lewis' words would ring true with me right now.

Awesome Wedding + Silly String = Good Times

Score another mark for the church 20-something hook-up ministry, er... I mean Bridge ministry. :-) Dale and Lindsay exchanged vows this past weekend, while us geeks were in the sound booth trying frantically to keep up with the bam-bam-bam pace of the media elements Dale & Lindsay chose. It was a lot of fun. And the reception, while Jennie and I wisely chose not to embarrass ourselves by dancing, was loads of fun. The element to remember was the moment the entire wedding party aimed their 20 or so cans of silly string at the bride and groom slow dancing, and over the next 30-45 seconds, covered them in gooey, slimy stuff.

VA Peeps

Jennie and I had some house guests this weekend. Scott and Sarah, friends of Dale Best from Virginia, stayed with us for a few nights. It was so very neat to hear about their struggles and passions regarding worship and church in general. And the fact that their journey wasn't so different from our own.

I had it in my mind that living in the middle of the US somehow automatically makes us a little behind, and that may be true, but it seems Jennie and I aren't so backwards after all. But then again, maybe I should ask Scott and Sarah what they think... :-)

A Man Weekend

I experienced my first baseball game this weekend. Several men took a trip to Kansas City to attend Promise Keepers and a Royals game. Someday I'll write down all my thoughts regarding that, but for now, some pictures will have to do.
